Learning outcomes approved by Resolution No.172/2019 of the Senate of the Maria Grzegorzewska University of 26 June 2019 on the programme of study in the field of pedagogy of general academic education profile with further amendments.

Learning outcomes in the area of knowledge. Having completed graduate studies (first-cycle studies) in the field of pedagogy, the graduate knows and understands to an advanced degree selected facts, objects and phenomena as well as methods and theories explaining complex relationships between them, constituting basic general knowledge concerning scientific disciplines forming the theoretical basis, and selected issues of detailed knowledge relevant for the programme of study; fundamental dilemmas of contemporary civilisation; basic economic, legal and other determinants of various types of activities related to an awarded qualification, including basic concepts and principles of industrial property protection and copyright laws, basic principles of creating and developing various forms of entrepreneurship development;
in particular he/she:
― has a basic knowledge of sources and place of pedagogy in the system of sciences, its thematic and methodological connections with other scientific disciplines; knows its terminology used in pedagogy and its sub-disciplines as well as in related scientific disciplines
― has a structured knowledge of education, teaching and learning, their philosophical, socio-cultural, historical, biological and psychological foundations, knows basic theories about these processes
― knows selected concepts: philosophical, psychological and social concepts and his/her development representing the theoretical basis of educational activity
― knows the most important traditional and contemporary pedagogical trends and systems, understands their historical and cultural contexts and their participation in the discourse on contemporary civilisation dilemmas
― has a basic knowledge of the types of social structures and institutions of social life as well as various educational environments, their specific nature and processes occurring between them
― has an extended knowledge of the structure and functions of the education system, objectives, legal basis, organisation and operations of various educational, welfare, therapeutic, cultural and support institutions and alternative forms of education as well as knowledge of inclusive education and ways of implementing the principle of inclusion
― has a basic knowledge of designing and conducting research in education and social sciences, in particular of research problems, methods, techniques and research tools
― has a detailed knowledge of pedagogical activity relevant to a particular speciality; for teaching specialities: has a detailed knowledge of the role of a guidance teacher in shaping students' attitudes and behaviour; has a detailed knowledge of designing and conducting diagnostic tests in pedagogical practice in relation to the relevant educational stages and taking into account the diverse educational needs of students; has a detailed knowledge of standards, procedures and good practices applied at a selected stage and area of pedagogical activity as well as the methodology of teaching/conducting classes and the selection of effective teaching aids
― has a detailed knowledge of the participants in educational and care activities, including their rights, relevant to a particular speciality, for teaching speciality: he/she knows the specific nature of the functioning of students with diverse educational needs, in particular the exceptionally gifted students
― knows interpersonal and social communication processes, their regularities and interferences
― has a basic knowledge of first aid service and occupational health and safety (OHS) in educational, care, cultural and support institutions and, for teaching specialities, has knowledge of the basics of the functioning and pathology of the speech apparatus
― knows basic economic, legal and other determinants of various types of professional activity relevant to a particular speciality, has knowledge of designing his/her own development path and improving personal etiquette
― has a well-organised knowledge of the principles and ethical standards and their applications to the fundamental dilemmas of modern civilisation
― knows the basic rules and standards related to intellectual property rights and copyright laws
― has a basic knowledge of entrepreneurship in the education sector;

Learning outcomes in the area of skills. The graduate is able to use the acquired knowledge - formulate and solve complex and unusual problems and perform tasks in unpredictable conditions by a proper selection of sources and information coming from them, evaluation, critical analysis and synthesis of the information – the selection and use of appropriate methods and tools, including advanced information and communication techniques (ICT); using the acquired knowledge - formulate and solve problems and perform tasks typical for professional activities relevant to his/her speciality; communicate with the environment using specialised terminology; participate in a debate - present, assess and discuss different opinions and attitudes; use a foreign language at B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages; plan and organise individual and team work, cooperate with other people as part of teamwork (also of an interdisciplinary nature); independently design and implement his/her own lifelong learning;
in particular he/she:
― is able to observe and interpret social phenomena, analyse their relationships with various fields of pedagogical activity and propose solutions to recognised problems
― is able to use basic theoretical knowledge in the field of pedagogy and related disciplines in order to analyse and interpret educational problems, including complex and atypical ones, and take corrective measures, both in recognised and not fully predictable conditions, and for teaching specialities, in particular: diagnose the needs and abilities of each student, design and implement personalised education programmes; customise tasks and select the content, methods and ways of evaluation as well as promote students' achievements, develop their creativity and independent thinking; create situations that motivate to learn, analyse their effectiveness and modify didactic, educational and care activities in order to achieve the desired learning outcomes; use the student evaluation process to stimulate their work on their own development; responsibly organise the student's school and out-of-school work respecting his/her right to rest
― has basic research skills allowing to analyse illustrative research, design and conduct simple educational research, is able to draw conclusions, develop and present the results (using ICT), indicating prospective lines of research
― is able to assess the usefulness of typical methods, procedures and good practices for the implementation of tasks related to various fields of pedagogical activity; can solve specific pedagogical problems and forecast the course of their solution and foresee the effects of planned activities, and for teaching specialities, in particular: use information and communication technologies for the effectiveness of the process of education and care; work with children from culturally diverse backgrounds and with poor knowledge of the Polish language
― can provide first aid service
― is able to animate the work on the development of participants of educational processes and support their independence in the acquisition of knowledge, develop their key competences and inspire them to work for lifelong learning, effectively support in conscious and responsible educational and professional decision-making
― can use principles and ethical standards in his/her activities, recognises and analyses ethical dilemmas; foresees the effects of specific educational activities
― has strong skills in interpersonal communication, knows the specialist language and can communicate accurately and coherently using a variety of communication channels and techniques with experts in the field of pedagogy as well as with recipients outside the group of specialists
― can present and evaluate various opinions and attitudes and talk about them, can actively participate in a debate, and for teaching specialities also: use the speech apparatus in accordance with the rules of voice production
― can plan and organise individual and team work
― can cooperate with other people and work in a team performing various roles
― is able to independently acquire knowledge and develop professional skills using various sources (in the native and foreign language) and modern technologies as well as analyse his/her own activities and indicate possible areas for modification
― has foreign language skills relevant to a particular field of study, consistent with the requirements defined for the B2 level on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages;

Learning outcomes in the area of social competences. The graduate is ready to critically evaluate the knowledge and information received; recognise the importance of knowledge in solving cognitive and practical problems and consult experts in the event of difficulties in solving the problems independently; fulfil social obligations, co-organise activities for the benefit of the social environment; initiate activities in favour of public interest; think and act in an entrepreneurial way; perform professional roles, including observing the rules of professional ethic and requiring it from others, caring for the achievements and traditions of the profession;
in particular he/she:
― is critical of his/her knowledge and skills, understands the need for continuous personal and professional development, makes self-assessment of his/her competences and improves his/her skills
― is convinced of the importance of knowledge in solving cognitive and practical problems, thus he/he seeks knowledge and in case of problems, he/she consults experts and asks their opinion
― is convinced of the sense, value and need to undertake pedagogical activities in social environment; is ready to embrace professional challenges and understands their social importance
― is sensitive and ready to act in favour of public interest, including people requiring assistance and special care, and is ready to build relationships based on trust in the place of pedagogical activity
― is ready to actively participate both individually and in groups and institutions carrying out pedagogical activities, thinking and acting in an entrepreneurial way
― is aware of the importance of reflection on ethical issues and following the principles of professional ethic, being guided by respect for every human being and research ethic
― is convinced of the importance of behaving in a professional manner, responsibly prepares for his/her work, is ready to cooperate and create a good atmosphere for communication with the entire school community and resolve conflicts through dialogue
― is aware of the importance of participation in cultural life and feels responsible for the preservation of cultural heritage.
