celem studiów jest przygotowanie do wykonywania zawodu pracownika socjalnego. Studenci zdobywają wiedzę na temat człowieka, relacji społecznych, poznają metody i techniki stosowane w diagnozie problemów społecznych klientów, rodzin i społeczności, jak również administracyjne i prawne podstawy pracy socjalnej w różnych typach instytucji pomocy społecznej. Program studiów daje szansę dostosowania kształcenia do indywidualnych potrzeb studenta, dzięki możliwości wyboru jednego z dwóch modułów poszerzających wiedzę i umiejętności:

Learning outcomes approved by Resolution No. 448/2022 of the Senate of the Maria Grzegorzewska University of 28 September 2022, amending Resolution No. 330/2022 of 16 March 2022 concerning the study programme in Social Work with a general academic profile
Upon completion of the first-cycle (Bachelor's) programme in Social Work, the graduate:
in the area of KNOWLEDGE has an advanced understanding of facts, theories, methods, complex interrelations between them, and the diverse and complex conditions influencing professional activities in social work;
in particular:
- various problem areas within the field of social work to an advanced degree; possesses basic knowledge of the significance of social work within the system of sciences; understands the practical applications of this knowledge in professional practice;
- the cultural, political, legal, and economic aspects of the functioning of the social assistance system and social work;
- selected perspectives on a human being: philosophical, psychological, sociological, and biological;
- human functioning in society, the types of bonds and social structures;
- social diversities constituting risk factors for the stigmatisation of individuals and families;
- principles for communication between social workers and clients;
- research methodology and procedures for implementing research projects in social work;
- economic and legal conditions affecting social assistance and the professional activities of social workers, including principles of copyright and industrial property protection;
- fundamental dilemmas of contemporary civilisation relevant to social work;
- principles for professional ethics for social workers;
- principles of developing various forms of entrepreneurship, including social entrepreneurship; how to access external funding sources, including European funds;
in terms of SKILLS, the graduate can innovatively perform tasks and solve complex and untypical problems in dynamic and not entirely predictable conditions; independently plan their lifelong learning; communicate effectively with their environment, and justify their position;
in particular:
- use acquired knowledge, including research methodology, to formulate, address, and solve and research various social issues; analyse, select, and apply appropriate methods and tools;
- analyse, critically assess, diagnose, and forecast client situations using knowledge of the methodological stages in social work, and develop solutions for problems of varying complexity;
- use modern technologies to obtain information from reliable sources; critically evaluate and analyse collected data;
- resolve conflicts through mediation and manage stressful situations;
- prepare written reports and oral presentations on specific issues and problems within social work;
- write and interpret documentation used in social work;
- apply legal and ethical principles, as well as professional standards relevant to social assistance, taking into account the principles of confidentiality and accessibility of the assistance provided;
- participate in debates related to social work issues, assess various presented positions, and engage in discussions;
- use a foreign language at the B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages;
- communicate and work both individually and within a group;
- cooperate with representatives of other professions, volunteers, and institutions; plan and organise individual and teamwork;
- independently plan and implement lifelong learning throughout all stages of life;
In terms of SOCIAL COMPETENCIES, the graduate is prepared to uphold and promote standards of appropriate conduct within and beyond the workplace, make independent decisions, critically assess their actions, those of the teams they lead, and the organisations they participate in, and take responsibility for the outcomes of these actions;
in particular:
- critically assess their knowledge and acknowledge the importance of knowledge in solving problems related to the profession of a social worker; ·
- engage in continuous personal and professional development and lifelong learning; use assistance, consultations, and supervision;
- critically evaluate their competencies and work outcomes;
- think and act in an entrepreneurial manner;
- independently prepare and participate in the development of social projects and other initiatives for individuals from diverse social backgrounds;
- initiate actions for the public interest related to assisting, supporting, and solving social problems of individuals, groups, and local communities;
- follow professional, ethical standards; show a responsible and empathetic attitude towards others, particularly clients of social assistance; recognise and formulate moral issues and ethical dilemmas.
