During the class we are going to discuss the following topics:

1. Modernity
a) the idea of progress
b) the importance of individual freedom
c) optimism towards human knowledge
d) free market as the main ethical force
2. Postmodernity
a) lack of metanarratives, no future
b) the death of the subject
c) knowledge and power
d) care of the self
3. Metamodernity
a) hopeful, but not naive, attitude towards history
b) partly free subject
c) zetetic knowledge
d) metamodern ethics

The main threads:
a) time
b) subject
c) knowledge
d) ethics

To sum up: we are going to evaluate the possibility, chances and challenges involved in metamodern perspective.

Didactic methods: discussion, Socratic dialogue, text analysis, group work.

Grading methods: activity, final essay.

Participation 30 h (1 ECTS)
Preparation to classes 45 h (1,5 ECTS)
