Forms of Abuse and Neglect Against Children 00-FF-FAN2

The seminar aims to present the outline of the problem of a child abuse within a broad socio-cultural context. Most of the seminar will be devoted to the active participation of students in the form of interactive exercises, group tasks, discussions; students will be encouraged to apply peer feedback to each other.

Term 2025Z:

- conceptual issues and terminological distinctions of the child abuse and neglect,
- the issue of a multi-problem family,
- social capital and the role of the local community in preventing child abuse,
- cooperation between services in preventing child abuse (multidisciplinary teams),
- the legal system of preventing family violence,
- typology of barriers in interventions,
- models of informing about suspected child abuse by professionals,
- the principle of the best interests of the child vs. the principle of the good of the family.
We will also analyze situations of child abuse and violence against children from Latin America, especially diverse forms of exploitation of children.
